Located in the heart of the city, the Goethe-Institut Toronto is the meeting point and partner for anyone interested in contemporary German art and culture as well as the German language. It welcomes all into its community space and newly launched Media Lounge, highlighting the relationship between the natural and digital realms.

HackLab.TO is a decades-old, member-run organization dedicated to makers and hackers (in the creative sense, as defined by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) from all walks of life. Come and visit the uniquely adorned space filled with members' projects — ranging from art to electronic exhibits to design projects. The space also provides many tools for members to use.

Heliconian Hall, home to the Heliconian Club, is one of the oldest associations of its kind in Canada. Founded in 1909, it gives women artists, writers, musicians, dancers and actors opportunities to work together creatively. The hall itself dates to 1876 when Yorkville was still a village. Check out the simple exterior, a Victorian rose window and carved ceiling rafters.

Built for the Bell Telephone Company of Canada in 1926, this attractive commercial building has undergone heritage restoration, retaining original exterior and interior features, furniture and Bell artifacts. In 2001, the building was converted into private offices (now containing 32 companies). In 2022, an exterior event space was completed, featuring a cobblestone courtyard surrounded by gardens and lush green space.

Toronto's Naval Reserve Division, home to 350 sailors and officers, celebrates its centennial this year. Boats, weapons, divers, musicians, marine technicians, intelligence operators and naval warfare officers are all tested here for domestic operations or deployed missions. Come and see the work that they do, check out the boats on display and listen to the marching band throughout the day.

HOK's Toronto studio creates award-winning interiors, architecture and planning solutions. Its technology-enabled workplace is balanced with inspirational art, sculpture, natural light, 360-degree views and a welcoming esthetic. It provides an environment for heightened collaboration, engagement and creativity. Located on the 22nd floor, it provides excellent views of the downtown core, including City Hall, the Canada Life Building and Ontario courts.

This century-old cinema, located in Toronto's Annex neighbourhood, is the world's first and largest documentary cinema. It is home to first-run Canadian and international documentary films, as well as special presentations, cultural events and some specialized fiction programming. The building is the flagship venue of the annual Hot Docs Festival, as well as several of the city's independent film festivals.

Founded in 1983 as Toronto Community-Videotex, InterAccess is a gallery, educational facility, production studio and registered charity dedicated to new media and emerging practices in art and technology. Each year, they deliver multiple exhibitions, events and workshops that explore the impact of technology on the social, political and cultural aspects of our lives. This is one of the world’s largest and most vibrant institutions of its kind. Established in 1963, it continues to serve the Japanese-Canadian community and anyone interested in Japanese culture. During Doors Open, enjoy tours and artist demonstrations. Try your hand at ink-wash painting. And, weather pending, view their blossoming cherry trees and participate in a traditional flower-viewing custom.

This former church was transformed into a Buddhist temple in 2005. The large meditation hall can host 180 people for classes and retreats. It contains a huge and stunning shrine with 16 beautiful Buddha statues. Explore the meditation halls, learn about the temple’s various community activities, view a slideshow of the building’s history or enjoy children’s activities.

Located near the waterfront at the foot of Lee Avenue in the Beach neighbourhood — one of Toronto’s most beautiful locations — the Kew Beach Lawn Bowling Club is a busy place. There is lawn bowling as well as croquet in the summer. During winter months, members play darts, table tennis and cards, and organize social events. Come and check them out.

Ukrainian immigrants bought land in Kensington Market to build a synagogue. Completed in 1927, Kiever Synagogue’s exterior features twin-domed towers crowned with stars of David and two main staircase entrances. The interior includes a hand-carved Torah ark, paintings of biblical animals and signs of the zodiac. In 1979, the Kiever became the first building of Jewish significance to be designated.

Serving Scarborough for more than 175 years, Knox United Church, Agincourt held its first service in a wood-frame structure; the current brick church was built in 1872. While some voted to join the United Church in 1925, others chose to form a new Knox Presbyterian congregation. There has been much growth here since the Second World War, with enhancements/new facilities.

This former stagecoach inn is the only remaining public building from the milling era on the lower Humber River. The two-storey brick building with double veranda offers spectacular views. Costumed guides will lead tours of the house and wildflower garden. Don’t miss the concert on the veranda as well as a historical reenactment of the 1865 elections speech on Saturday!

Come and explore Ontario’s Legislative Assembly — an impressive structure that has been home to the province’s legislature since 1893. Alongside oak floors and Italian marble finishes is artwork from the Government of Ontario Art Collection. During Doors Open, visitors can enjoy several exhibits on self-guided tours that include the legislative chamber. There’s even a kid-friendly scavenger hunt. (No tripods allowed.)

Come visit the home of rebel leader, activist journalist and Toronto’s first mayor — William Lyon Mackenzie. While the house is currently unfurnished following a restoration, the site includes a recreated printshop (there will be printing demonstrations throughout the Doors Open weekend). As you explore the historical portion of the house, feel free to offer suggestions on interpretation and programming.

The current St. Paul the Apostle — comprising an auditorium, church and rectory — was constructed largely by the Maltese community, prompted by the Maltese-Canadian Society of Toronto. The halls have been used extensively since the 1960s for weddings, social gatherings, receptions and celebratory feasts. The Maltese-Canadian Museum and Archive are now housed here, providing a fascinating glimpse into this community.

Visit the Manor Road United Church during this year's Doors Open Toronto. Located in the heart of Davisville Village, the church offers something for the whole family. Be the curious adventurer and celebrate the Manor's 100th anniversary. Hear from resident "heritage whisperers," listen to the sound of music, and discover a place that is home for many today.

This is a space where tech and innovation communities come together to develop game-changing health-care solutions. The Centre comprises four distinct laboratory buildings — the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower (operated by the University Health Network), Heritage Building (revitalized office/event space on the site of the former Toronto General Hospital), the South Tower (emerging companies) and the West Tower (established companies).

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, this mosque — a former bank — serves as a city landmark and a symbol of Toronto’s multiculturalism and inclusion. Come and explore the site through guided tours and discover the building’s history, learn about the community’s heritage and diversity, have your name written in Arabic calligraphy and enjoy delicious cultural foods and drinks.

Massey College was built from 1961-63 following an architectural competition. At Doors Open, visitors will get the chance to see Ondaatje Hall and the Robertson Davies Library, sit in the Round Room and visit one of only three Royal Chapels in Canada. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a demonstration of a 19th-century letterpress shop.

The Mercer Union is a non-profit, artist-centred space in Toronto that presents innovative exhibitions by diverse Canadian and international artists in formative and established stages of their careers. Founded in 1979, it moved to its current space in 2008. Constructed in 1913, this building features decorative pilasters and ornate terracotta tiles on its façade. Original tin ceiling tiles also remain.

Since 1993, the Meridian Arts Centre has welcomed thousands of visitors, patrons, performers and artists through its doors. In 2015, Toronto City Council approved the consolidation of the governance and operations of Meridian Hall, St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and Meridian Arts Centre into one new organization called TO Live. Come and explore the Centre during Doors Open.

Catch a lawn recital of the Met's 54-bell carillon before entering this church. Take in the rich woodwork, enjoy a guided tour, explore a visual history display and watch pipe organ demonstrations. You can even take a bell tower tour to get up close. For Doors Open, experience a special presentation of Norval Morrisseau's "Family of the Spiritual Journey."

This building is considered one of the finest examples of Loyalist or late-Georgian architecture in Ontario. Original owners Thomas and Margaret Montgomery, Irish immigrants, operated it as a tavern until Margaret's death in 1855. The inn has been restored as a mid-19th-century tavern, a reminder of the pivotal role that inns played as community hubs in the settlement of Ontario.
