Porcupine Historic Park houses artifacts that help tell the story of the Great Porcupine Gold Rush that began in 1909. Included in the park is a steam locomotive from the Hollinger Mine, a mine recorder's vault (original to the site, from 1910) and an arrastra, a large wheel-shaped object found near the Buffalo-Ankerite Mine, which was used for grinding ore.

Founded in Timmins, Quilts for Survivors creates comfort and healing through the making and giving of quilts. With help from a nation-wide collective of volunteers, quilters craft full-sized blankets and send them to survivors of the Residential School System as a symbol of support, respect and love. Join us during Doors Open to learn more about this important work.

The Tisdale Cemetery was established in 1915 at the urging of local undertakers Barton and Easton because the cemetery in use in South Porcupine was not easily accessible most of the year. This site was used by the provincial government as a prison camp during the construction of the road between Timmins and the south end.

This cemetery was incorporated into the City of Timmins in 1973. Victims of the 1911 Great Porcupine Fire were buried here on the shore of Porcupine Lake — hence, the name Deadman's Point. The cemetery has remained in service since that time. Points of interest include the monument to victims of the fire and the crypt from the goldmining Wiess family.

High ceilings and soaring timber columns make this an architectural gem and community haven. Timber was chosen as the primary building material for this building to reflect the importance of the forest products sector in the heritage, culture and economy of Timmins. The Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre is a public resource dedicated to the presentation, promotion and preservation of local heritage. You can explore their new permanent exhibition Where We Stand: Stories of the Land and try out the new virtual-reality mining experience. The museum has a large gift shop filled with products from local artists and other Canadian-made goods!

The Catholic Cemetery was moved from the churchyard on Fifth Avenue to this location in 1917. All sites were amalgamated into the Timmins Memorial Cemetery in 1966. Points of interest include a monument to victims of the 1928 Hollinger Mine Disaster, the headstone of hometown hockey hero Bill Barilko, and several well-known families and early pioneers of the Porcupine area.

From 1919, the Hollinger Mine embarked on a project to house its growing workforce. More than 300 green and red tar-paper houses were built in rows. This house was located on the Underground Mine Tour site and moved to its current location at the Timmins Museum.
