Founded in 1954, The Curtain Club rehearsed in the homes of its then 25 members, built sets in garages, stored costumes in attics and performed in local halls and schools. In 1971, club members raised funds and hammers to create the current facility, which opened in 1972. The Royal Canadian Air Farce broadcast its first few seasons here.
