This designated church, constructed in 1834 shortly after the founding of the community, was funded by British naval officers Admiral Vansittart and his agent Captain Andrew Drew (who were partners on a farming estate here). During the Rebellion of 1837, the church also used as a jail. The chancel and transepts were added in 1843 and 1851 respectively.
